April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month and we are using this occasion to share new resources with our Doing Right by Our Kids readers. We are relaunching our Doing Right by Our Kids newsletter by sharing the Kidpower 30-skill challenge with our subscribers. So when you sign up to receive to our newsletter, you’ll receive one Kidpower safety skill per week, plus other important safety information (but never more than two emails a week from us).
Throughout April and beyond we will be adding new resources to our Doing Right by Our Kids Digital Library, which currently features the Kidpower “Talking About Touch and Boundaries Starter Kit,” Kidpower sample coloring book and Comic Book pages. These are some of my favorite, most essential Kidpower Comics, talking about the safety rules about touch. Pairing the comic book pages together with the “Talking About Touch and Boundaries Starter Kit” will help you teach the safety rules about touch to any child in your life–in an effective, upbeat way.
National Child Abuse Prevention Month is an initiative of the Children’s Bureau of the U. S. Department of Human Services. They offer many resources through their website as well.
I really like their calendars that have daily ideas about 30 Ways to Promote Child Well-Being During National Child Abuse Prevention Month with separate calendars for Parents, Programs and Community Partners.
