Protecting Child Safety at All Levels of Society

Meet the Experts

Dr. Amy Tiemann and Kidpower founder Irene van der Zande have each reached millions of people with innovative resources that improve lives through education and empowerment.

Tiemann and van der Zande originally met and started working together through Kidpower Teeenpower Fullpower International. In 2010, they collaborated on their first book Courageous Parents, Confident Kids: Letting Go So You Both Can Grow. This landmark work in the field of parenting was created by Dr. Tiemann and features a chapter by van der Zande, “Kidpower: Skills for Safety, Skills for Independence.”

Now in their new venture, Doing Right by Our Kids, Dr. Tiemann and van der Zande fully combine their expertise and professional passions. This time, their outreach begins with DoingRightbyOurKids.com, a website resource that educates parents about how to create child safety at all levels of society. This long-awaited social movement defines the standards that make the difference for every child’s safe, happy, respected path to adulthood.

Doing Right by Our Kids and the research behind it are also being developed into a book, to serve as a groundbreaking reference in the field of child advocacy and personal safety. This information is so important and timely, with new headlines published daily about bullying, “stranger danger,” sexual abuse, and other issues of child safety and respect. As they develop their book, Dr. Tiemann and van der Zande are making their research, insights, guidance, and resources available in real time through their website and blog, to help both parents and professionals who work with children.
